Day 5-My Siblings

These are our most recent family pictures.  And they are mega old...

Ashley is the oldest and her husband is in the Army.  They live in Kentucky/Tennessee and have two little girls and a baby boy.  They are so cute and I miss them so much!

Trevor and Tiffany live in New Mexico and have one little girl. She is also very cute but luckily I have seen her/them fairly recently :]

Landon and Jessica live in southern Utah and have two dogs haha I also saw them fairly recently so that is good!

I love my siblings a lot and hopefully one day we'll actually be all together again (I don't mean for eternity, that's already for sure.  I just mean nowish :])

I don't know but I think I may be

Fallin' for you, dropping so quickly

Maybe I should keep this to myself

Waiting 'til I know you better

I am trying not to tell you

But I want to, I'm scared of what you'll say

So I'm hiding what I'm feeling but I'm tired of
Holding this inside my head

I've been spending all my time

Just thinking about ya

I don't know what to do
I think I'm fallin' for you
I've been waiting all my life
And now I found ya
I don't know what to do
I think I'm fallin' for you
I'm fallin' for you

I can't stop thinking about it

I want you all around me

And now I just can't hide it
I think I'm fallin' for you

I'm fallin' for you

Ooohhh
Oh no no

Oooooohhh
Oh I'm fallin' for you

Day 4-My Parents

Sharla Frown Town and Papa Squat.  My parents.  The people that created me almost 20 years ago.  Wow they're old! (Just kidding!)

I love my parents so much!  They are amazing and I miss them so much!  I can't wait to be home and not have to do ANYTHING because I'm going to make them do it all for me :]

Day 3-Your first love

I suppose the first thing to come to mind with this day's post would be a boy.  But it's not.

Yeah, I've liked guys before and even dated some.  And I suppose with some, I thought I was in "love", but I don't think I really was.

My real first love, I think, was my dog Abby.

I have a post about her if you want the full story, but I'm not going to go into that great of detail on this post!

Besides the obvious unconditional love that comes from family and some friends, I have never felt so loved by anything or anyone until I had Abby.  She was the sweetest dog in the world.  Some people reading this may think I'm weird, but whatever.  I used to think people that considered their pets their "children" were weird but all of that changed with Abby.  She really was like my baby and she acted like one, too.

The memories of her sitting with me and lying in my arms like a real baby, just gazing up at me, still kinda bring tears to my eyes.  I really do miss her and I don't think I will ever have that deep of a love for an animal again.

Saying goodbye to her was more truly heartbreaking than anything that's happened between me and a boy.  That's why she's my first love.

Day 2-Meaning behind your blog name

Well let's see... I titled my blog "Brooke's Really Tall Tales" because I am really tall (obviously) and people always think I'm exaggerating when I tell stories.  I never am, though.  Usually when people see or hear what I was telling them about, they admit that I was 100% correct.  For some reason, however, they never believe me in the future...

Day 1-Introduce, recent picture, 15 interesting facts

I am stealing this from Erika. I haven't been super awesome about writing on my blog so I thought doing this 30 day blog challenge thing would be a good way to get myself into writing more frequently as well as end the year on a good note!  So here goes!

This isn't my most recent picture, but it's the most recent I have of fun stuff!  These are the first snow people I ever built (even though I really just assisted).  My face is still blue from the last home game of the season so there are multiple great memories attached to it!

Now for 15 random facts :]

1. I am really clumsy.  I have broken 5 bones, busted my chin and head open, killed the nerves in my knee, and have managed to mess up my ear drum and gall bladder; the gall bladder had to be removed so I have some nice scars and the ear drum had to have surgery to place a skin graft on it... I have a pretty sweet scar from that, too!

2. I love literature and I'm kinda sad that the English Language major doesn't require any lit classes.  I guess that's why I want to edit books, though.  Now, I can spend the rest of my life reading books and actually get paid for it!

3. I have never had a real valentine.  My mom and dad always got me stuff and so did my friends sometimes, but I've never actually had a boy "be my valentine".  It's not really that big of a deal, but I guess it would be nice haha

4. Weird things occur when I sleep.  I talk and I guess I don't fully close my eyes, and I snore sometimes. Isn't that exciting?

5. I love the colors teal, yellow, and like a hunter/lime green mix.  I'm pretty sure that's going to be the color combination at my wedding.

6. When I was little, I could have been given shots or something that would have made me not grow so much.  My dad said no.  I blame him for my weirdness (just kidding... but seriously.)

7. A year ago, I thought I'd be able to come out to school and find a guy and get married.  Now, that thought terrifies me.  I am not as mature as I thought I was.

8. I have my future children's names picked out kinda.  Is that weird? Oh well. Oddly, they almost all start with Em.

9. I wish my siblings and I had been closer to each other when we were growing up.

10. I love music.  I have to be in the right mood, and what I like also depends on my mood, but I especially love kinda different music that other people don't typically know :]

11. It is almost always a mystery to me what people actually think of me.  I wish everyone could just say what they think/feel that way, you don't ever have to stress over whether or not a boy likes you or not or if people are just pretending to be your friend.

12. This semester has taught me a lot about myself.  It was really hard in many ways and I am beginning to see who I really am now.

13. I have the best student ward ever.  My bishop and his wife are AMAZING and I have met some pretty incredible people here as well!

14. I wish I had appreciated things more when I was younger like my baptism, girls' camp, youth dances, seminary, and my leaders.  Now that I'm older, I wish I could go back and relive all of it.

15. Sometimes I'm weird, but I'd rather be who I really am than have people like me for being who I'm not.

The Best Way to Put Off Homework...

So much has happened since the last time I blogged, yet at the same time... Nothing has happened.

Before everyone gives up on reading, I'd like to give a special thanks to Lauren, Erika, Sarah, Cindy, Justin, Matt, Dallin, Tyler, Merrill, Eric, and Kraig for making this weekend super super awesome!

Anyways... Let's see.  First of all, I went to my first tall club meeting!  I was the tallest girl there (thank goodness!) and I even won something for having the longest legs!  Awesome - I know!  There is another activity tonight so I'm pretty excited!

Then... Hmm... I got asked on a date!  His name is John and he is my home teacher and is in my family home evening group.  Yes, he is taller than me.  We went to a Divine Comedy show and got milkshakes!  It was a lot of fun!

This past week was lots of fun.  We came up with a wonderful scheme to steal oven doors from our friends Matt and Dallin.  We made ransom notes to try to make Matt think Dallin did it and make Dallin think Matt did it!  The notes told them to wear their house colors (Harry Potter) and meet at noon for a wizards' duel :] We almost succeeded with everything, too!  We got their roommates in on it and our friend's Eric and Kraig to help us house them somewhere besides our apartment!  The plan was to go at 4 AM and take the doors, but Matt is apparently nocturnal and was up until 5 AM!  We thought it would be best to go to sleep until 7 (which turned into 8:30 when I didn't wake up to my alarm...) and steal them then.  That time, we were successful!

It was really funny going into Dallin's apartment because his roommate (the one not in on it) was sitting at the table eating breakfast.  We kinda scared him because he knew his other two roommates were asleep and he didn't know who the heck was coming in... It was great :]

So then we went back to our apartment and went to sleep until 11. When we got up, we made muffins and got all bundled up and headed to a balcony right across from where the duel was supposed to take place.  Unfortunately, Matt came out and saw us.  We told him the plan and asked him to play along.  He didn't really want to, though.  For some reason, Dallin wasn't coming outside so we went over to his apartment and made him think our door had been stolen, too!  We said we got a note saying there would be a duel so that's why we had our cameras haha He then went out and tried to duel with Matt and we got it all on film!  It was really funny because Dallin didn't know if Matt was telling the truth about us stealing his door or if we were telling the truth about Matt stealing the doors!  It was great!

Sorry! It's turned wrong...

Then Saturday night we had a ward talent show!  Erika, Cindy, Lauren, Matt, Sarah, Justin and I all recreated the SNL Lawrence Welk Show skit. It was so much fun wearing ugly sweaters and acting stupid!  My ugly sweater seemed to have some magical charm in it because at one point, four boys were touching me at the same time!  It was ridiculous!  After the show we watched Harry Potter and chilled with Eric and Kraig.  I'm pretty sure it was the best day of the whole semester!

Yesterday wasn't so great, though.  I took a midterm for my Grammar of English class... and let's just say I didn't do too hot.  That wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't account for 20% of my grade :/ Then some other stuff happened and it just made the whole day really crummy!  I'm sure things will get better but it's hard to force yourself to not be down when there is certain stuff ruining any happiness.

I emailed my mom about how I was feeling and I'm putting part of what she said on here...

"A few weeks ago at church someone used that expression "Feel Sorry for Yourself" and it hit me in the face...that's what I've been doing.  There is nothing wrong in my life but that I want more and I want it now.  We have a home, cars, jobs, religion and purpose, but yet it's just not good enough...WHY?

Do your part now and get out and make new friends, or go help someone.  That's something I think you are missing out on...you were always service oriented and I haven't heard you say anything about doing acts of service since you've been out there.

Make a plan my baby girl...keep doing what you are doing...be true to yourself and you will be fine.  Don't let other's dictate how you feel about yourself.  It's okay to cry and feel bad once in a while, but then put in your earrings and a little makeup, get all prettied up and go out and smile at the world around you."

So that's what I'm going to try to do.  That's all I can do, really. I'm going to try to not let little stuff get in the way of me trying to be happy.  That's the best anyone can do in life, so why not do it?

And now a PSA (public service announcement) for any boys reading: ASK GIRLS ON DATES! Why not do it?  The worst thing that'll happen is they say no!  And let me tell you, they most likely won't say no!  There are so many girls waiting for all of you awesome boys to ask them (us) on dates!  If you're a Mormon guy reading this (which most likely you are), and you haven't served a mission yet, it's okay to date someone without being girlfriend/boyfriend.  This is the time in our lives to get to know each other through dating, not just through hanging out.  It's a real self-esteem killer (not just for me but for every girl I know) to not be asked on dates.  You guys have more influence over us than you realize.  Asking a girl on a date can change the entire way she views herself.  So stop being silly and get to asking!
